Informationen zu Sendtnera Die Zeitschrift wurde 1950 unter dem Namen "Mitteilungen der Botanischen Staatssammlung München" von Prof. Karl von Süssenguth ins Leben gerufen. Mit der Gründung des Instituts für Systematische Botanik an der Universität München im Jahre 1958 und der damit verbundenen Personalunion mit der Botanischen Staatssammlung unter Leitung von Prof. H. Merxmüller, einem bedeutenden Mentor der Pflanzensystematik in Deutschland, wurden die "Mitteilungen" zu einer international anerkannten Zeitschrift. Mit der Emeritierung von Prof. Merxmüller und der Neuberufung von Prof. J. Grau auf den Lehrstuhl für Systematische Botanik entschlossen sich 1993 die neuen Herausgeber dazu, mit dem 30. Band die "Mitteilungen" abzuschließen und der Zeitschrift ein neues Gesicht und einen neuen Namen zu geben. Daß nach langer Diskussion der Name "Sendtnera" gewählt wurde, hängt damit zusammen, daß Otto Sendtner (1813-1859), ein persönlicher Mitarbeiter von Martius, sowohl als Konservator an der Staatssammlung als auch als Professor für Botanik an der Universität tätig war. Als geschätzter Systematiker war er nicht nur an einigen Bänden der Flora Brasiliensis beteiligt, sondern auch einer der Begründer der Vegetationskunde als eigener Teildisziplin der Botanik. Mit dem Namen "Sendtnera" haben die Herausgeber einen verdienten Forscher geehrt, der sich im Bereich von Sammlung und Universität um die Botanik verdient gemacht hat. Hinweise für die Autoren
