Editorial Board: REINHARD AGERER, München (Germany), Editor-in-Chief ROBERT M. DANIELSON, Calgary (Canada) SIMON EGLI, Birmensdorf (Switzerland) KEVIN INGLEBY, Penicuik (Scotland) DANIEL LUOMA, Corvallis (USA) ROLAND TREU, Goroka (Papua New Guinea) DESCR ECTOMYC is a journal strictly reviewed by the editorial board, and if reasonable, by external reviewers. Contributions must be accepted by the Editor-in-Chief as well as by two members of the editorial board. All descriptions are published in English. As characterizations of ectomycorrhizae having been published frequently in a great number of journals and in different languages, this journal gives the opportunity to publish all comprehensive anatomical studies of ectomycorrhizae in one journal. Comparison of ectomycorrhizae derive advantage from this journal insofar as all contributions have identical arrangements and use the same features. DESCR ECTOMYC is issued by one volume each year and comprises 10-20 characterized ectomycorrhizae. Included are "identified ectomycorrhizae" (the mycorrhiza forming fungus is known) and "unidentified ectomycorrhizae" (the fungus is unknown yet). Only those unidentified ectomycorrhizae are accepted for publication which are named binomially. DESCR ECTOMYC is organized in a loose leaflet system. Each contribution of a folded 6-(8-)page leaflet contains up to three pages of drawings and the remaining part is appointed to text; to keep the prize low, no half-tone photos are accepted. Discussions and comparisons to other similar ectomycorrhizae are included, ultrastructural and DNA-data. Detailed characterizations of ectomycorrhizae of each fungal species are published only once in DESCR ECTOMYC, regardless which tree genus the mycorrhizae are formed on. Only characterizations of ectomycorrhizae grown under natural conditions are accepted, including synthesized ectomycorrhizae grown in nursery soil or in natural or semi-natural substrates in synthesis containers. | AUTHORS GUIDE TO PREPARE MANUSCRIPTS
The guide can be copied in the computer and the #####-signs should be replaced by the characteristics, which are mentioned in the parentheses. If structures are lacking, this should be noted, e. g. 'Cystidia lacking', or 'Tannin cells lacking'. The absence of characteristics has to be mentioned to ensure that a missing feature has not been simply "overlooked" but definitely "not observed". The lack of features which is self-evident, e. g., the lack of laticifers in non-Lactarius ectomycorrhizae, or features which can hardly be overlooked when the available check-lists are applied, have not to be mentioned as 'lacking'. Lacking features can be grouped together at the beginning of a pragraph. For explanation of features see COLOUR ATLAS or/and DEEMY. Manuscripts must be submitted as hard copy and diskette (preferably written with Winword).
